Confessional FO

I admit it, I can have a teensy-weensy itty bitty little tiny, miniscule really ego. I made a scarf for a local friend, but I knew she wouldnt get all posey with it or get why I would want my scarf showcased. Also, I was inbetween cameras, and my photog skills are not so hot... however Javajem is a great photographer. Yes, I am lame enough to send my scarf 3000 miles out to be photographed.

But here are the results!
My So-Called Scarf
Manos Del Uruguay, Woodland

Thank you Javajem!

In other news I have a purse felted, but I need to figure out how to line it and add a zipper. Hopefully that will get done in the next couple of weeks. I can't promise that I wont be shipping that off for photos either. I know, I know.

OK so you scrolled. One more bad confession. While it was in Maryland getting photographed, Javajem also washed it to soften it for me... and well OK remove some of the extra cat/dog fur from it... So not only did she photograph it, she laundered it for me. THANK YOU AGAIN Javajem!

The Happy Hooker Presents: Knitters vs. Crocheters!

This is cute (and I despite the large panned out shot of NYC, that looks suspiciously like Marina del Rey, CA... I definitely recognize a couple of buildings! Plus it looks bright and sunny like CA)

Spinning Sunday.

This is some of my latest handspun. I have no idea what I am going to do with it. None. I keep thinking I will take all these smattering of homespuns and make them into felted zipper bags. Forget that I dont know how to sew zippers. Or how many of them do I plan to make? Or that I'm spinning less than worsted weight so how not fun felting would that be... Anyway, until I am inspired I will just keep practicing my spinning.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We are doing nothing for St. Patty's Day. I wanted to go to O'Shea's and at least get shots from the leprechaun they have running up and down the bar, but the pressure of being Irish on such a party day is too much for WHN, so he is hiding out. But because I am not the pill that he is, I thought I would show a couple pics of one of the prettiest parts of Ireland, Giant's Causeway.

Last night though, we saw The English Beat at HOB. BTW, for those of you that live in a HOB city, they have 2forTuesday where select upcoming shows are priced 2 for 1. This came in handy because The English Beat wasn't really THE English Beat, so I was much happier paying 1/2 price. However, to his credit, Dave Wakeling and "other musicians," however, did have the joint jumping. WHN was thrilled because he loves ska dancing and it's not like he has a lot of opportunity to do so. Poor WHN is getting old, he was stiff today from it. So I guess that's what happens when you don't die young and leave a beautiful corpse. Dave Wakeling, the young hot guy, has turned into a middle aged lacivious guy with a creepy laugh. WHN said Wakeling was always sleezy, I was just too young and shallow to look beyond his beautiful hair and cheekbones and Britishness. I'd like to think I was more sophisticated, but WHN assures me I was not.

So I got quite the birthday spoils from near and far and inbetween. Since the inbetween and far are fiber related, I will show some of the cool stuff.

From Jinann yarns and fiber! Hand-dyed stuff because she knows I can't get that here and yarn for some quick projects. The fiber is Bluefaced Leicester. I've been dying to check it out. I will be getting to that soon. She also included candy and a sock pattern, but my favorite part was all the post it notes explaining the though behind the choice! I left them in the picture. because I thought they were so cute.

Petunia also enjoying the gift:

From Germany, Sibille graced me with her socks! I love love love her knitted socks. She also sent me an Opal that I was eyeing as well as German candy with funny foreign names. Speaking of funny foreign languages, my MIL sent me Celtic language CDs. Joy.

Aren't these great? I can never decide if I will give more pleasure taking the credit for making them or letting people know they were made especially for me. Do I want to appear skillful or popular. HMMM clever or well-liked?

I thought about holding out on opening this one and waiting for my bday, but you know who had different plans:

On the FO front, I finished the knitting part of the Noni Prism bag. Now it's the felting part, which I always managed to screw up. I am not looking forward to risking my blood, sweat, and tears (but ug, if this bag has all that, maybe it should go in the wash)

Ofcourse one's Noni masterpiece, is another's wubby:

He knows he shouldn't be on it, but he won't leave it alone.

Another token ferret picture because I'm just seeing if there are any of the SP10rs with them... and also to prove I have rung the little shit's neck for stealing all my stuff.

Happy March!

I managed to finish the bottom part of the bag before the ferrets ran off with it. I am sure it is lining some happy ferret nest somewhere. ARGH! Here it is in better days:

Which I suppose is good since my pattern is being used by someone else:

Seriously they have no respect.

Does she look fat? Someone called her that after seeing the picture?

I wasn't going to do SP10, but was talked into it. I had the most amazing SP10 spoiler, but more or that when I get a camera next week.

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
I like things I can felt. I like soft and smooth stuff. I love cuddly yarn.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?
My SP8 Spoiler sewed me a lovely straight needle holder.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?
I have been knitting for many years. I taught myself with a Barbara Walker Learn to Knit afghan bookl. Crocheting I learned at my grandmother’s knee in her afghan making sweatshop.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
Yes Amazon

I like all sorts of music: alternative, 80s, big band. Right now I am really liking Regina Spektor, The Killers, but in my CD player is Travis. Though if you saw the type of stuff I have saved on my Sirius radio, I would have to turn in my way too cool card. Yes my computer can play MP3

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand?
I like greens (except mint green) I love emeraldy greens. I'm really into retro stuff like burgundies, browns with pale blues and oranges... I also like bright saturated colors (but not primary)

Husband, cat, dog, ferrets, iguana.. and they are all a pain in my ass. Do you want one of them?

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?
YES, YES, YES (prefer gloves), NO (I think I need to use my small pool as a hostess to get this questioned revised. Ponchos are so out and out of all the blogs I have read as a hostess, I have yet to see anyone make someone else a poncho)

18. What is your favorite holiday?
My birthday, then Christmas-- guess what these holidays have in common and you’ll know why I love them.

I like Mermaids, shells, tikis, milagros, -- I have the taste of a middle age man named Maury.

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have? I subscribe to Interweave and Vogue. There is always some pattern I want.

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements? YES I am. Size 8.

23. When is your birthday? (mm/dd) 3/15, the same day as Fabio and Judd Hirsch (or Eva Longoria if you want a more recent reference or the day of Julius Caesar’s Death if you aren’t into that Hollywood scene) However I am greedy and immature enough to make any day my birthday if it means I will get prezzies and cake.
